In the name of God Amen I James Knight of Leighton
Buzzard in the County of Bedford Surgeon being very sick and weake
in body yett of a sound mind and memory blessed be God yett considering
the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof
Doe make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner
and forme following that is to say First I commend my soule into
the hands of Amighty God in hopes of a blessed resurrection through
Jesus Christ my Redeemer And my body to the earth from whence it
was taken to be decently buryed at the discretion of my Executors
hereafter named And as for such worldly goods and estate as it
hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and bequeath as followeth
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto Mrs. Downes that liveth with
me the sume of one and twenty shillings and six pence Item I give
unto Mr. Henry Downes my Uncle and to my brother in Law Mr. Thomas
Leigh the sume of twenty shillings apeice Item I give and bequeath
unto my deare and loveing Wife All and every the goods plate lynnen
and other household that was hers before marryage and which shee
hath newly brought into the House Item I give and bequeath unto
my sister Goodwins children the sume of tenne shillings apeice
to be paid unto their Father and Mother as Trustees for them Item
I give and bequeath unto my sister Williams two children the sume
alsoe of tenne shillings apeice Item I give and bequeath unto my
cozen John Knight the like sume of tenne shillings Item I give
and bequeath unto my Maid servant Elizabeth Baker the sume of twenty
shillings All which severall Legacies shall be severally and respectively
paid unto them within twelve moneths next after my decease And
last of all I give and bequeath unto my deare Brother John Knight
all and every my wearing apparell of Woollen whatsoever As for
my Household goods and stock in the Shopp and otherwise my debts
being paid and my funerall expences borne I leave in the hands
of my two deare friends my Wife and my brother John Knight whom
I doe hereby nominate and appoint to be the Executors of this my
last Will and Testament And I doe hereby revoke disannull and make
void all other Will or Wills by me heretofore made and doe declare
this to be my last Will and Testament In witnesse whereof I have
hereunto sett my hand and seale this fourteenth day of Aprill one
thousand six hundred ninety three and in the fifth yeare of the
reigne of our Sovereigne Lord and Lady King William and Queene
Mary of England &c. James Knight. Sealed and delivered in the presence
