In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Doggett of Layton
Bussard in the County of Bedford widdow being good and perfect
memory (praised be God for the same) doe make and Ordaine this
my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following (that
is to say) First and principally I commend my Soule and spiritt
into the hands of Almighty God my Heavenly Father by whom of his
merce and only grace I Trust to be saved through the meritotious
Death Resurrecc[i]on and assention of my ever Blessed Saviour and
Redeemer Jesus Christ and my Body I comitt to the Earth to be decently
interred at the discretion of my Executors herein after named and
as for my Worldly Estate which it hath pleased the Almighty God
to bestowe upon me I dispose of the same as followeth Item I give
and Bequeath unto the Poore People inhabiting within the Lecke
end of Layton aforesaid the sum of Fifty shillings to be distributed
amongst them in such manner as my Executors shall judge most convenient
Item I give and devise unto Mathew Disney of Bradwell in the County
of Buck[ingham] Clerke William Lea of Lillingston Dayrill in the
said County Clerke and John Trulove of Layton Buzard aforesad Carpenter
and the Executors and assignes of the surviver of them All my Estate
Right Title Interest possession terme of yeares yet to come and
unexpired claime and demand whatsoever of and in all that my Meadow
ground or Pasture ground with all and singuler the appurtenances
thereunto belonging or in any wise apperteyning lyeing and being
within the Parish of Steeple Claydon in the said County of Buck[ingham]
upon speciall Trust and Confidence in them reposed and to the intent
and purpose hereafter mentioned (that is to say) That they the
said Mathew Disney William Lea and John Trulove and the survivor
of them and the Executors or Assignes of such survivor shall from
time to time for and dureing the naturall life of my Grandchild
Martha Pawlett the now wife of William Pawlett of Birton in the
County of Southampton Esq[uire] pay over imploy and dispose of
all the Rents Issues and profitts of all and singuler the said
Meadow or Pasture ground hereby to them devised to and for the
sole proper peculiar and separate use and Benefitt of my said Grandchild
Martha Pawlett alone and not for the use or benefitt of the said
William Pawlett Esq[uire] nor as he shall direct But from time
to time and at all times dureing her naturall life shall pay imploy
and dispose of all the monies to be had levyed or raised out of
the Rents and profitts of the said premisses other then such monies
as shall be from time to time expended in mannageing the premisses
and performeing the Trust hereby in them reposed which it shall
and may be lawfull for them from time to time to deduct) into the
proper hands of the said Martha Pawlett or into the hands of such
Person or Persons as shee shall from time to time aloane without
the said William Pawlett by any writing or writings by her signed
with her owne hand appoynt the same to be paid and not otherwise
And my mind and Will is That any acquittance or other discharge
by her alone signed shall be a good and sufficient discharge from
time to time upon the payment of the same as aforesaid and from
and after the decease of the said Martha Pawlett Then upon this
further Trust and Confidence in them reposed that they the said
Mathew Disney William Lea and John Truelove and the survivor of
them and the Executors or Assignes of such survivor shall imediately
from and after the decease of the said Martha Pawlett imploy and
dispose of the then growing Rents issues and profitts of the said
meadow or pasture ground for and dureing the then residue and
remainder of the said terme unto and for the only use benefitt
and maintainance of the heires of her body begotten or to be begotten
And for want of such issue my mind and Will is That the Estate
and Trust hereby in them reposed shall Cease and determine and
that then and in such case I doe give and devise the same Meadow
and Pasture ground with the Rents Issues and profitts of the same
for and dureing the then residue and remainder of the said terme
therein then to come and unexpired unto the said Mathew Disney
and Sarah his now wife and to the Issue of their Two bodies begotten
or to be begotten their Executors and Assignes And also my Will
is that my said Trustees shall and may from time to time deduct
and detaine out of and from the Rents Issues and profitts of the
above devised premisses all such Charges costs damages and expences
as they or either of them shall sustaine expend or be putt unto
in the Execution or mannagement of the Trust hereby in them reposed
Item I give and bequeath unto Judith and Rebecca Turney the daughters
of my Brother Edward Turney of Hemel Hempstedd the sum of Twenty
pounds of lawfull money of England equally to be devided betweene
them and to be paid within one yeare next after my decease Item
I give unto the said Rebecca my best Gowne and best Petticoate
Item I give and bequeath unto Edward Turney the son of my said
Brother Turney the sum of Five Pounds of lawfull money of England
to be paid within one yeare next after my decease Item I give unto
Thomas Turney one other of the sonns of the said Edward Turney
my said Brother the sum of Twenty shillings to be paid him likewise
within one yeare next after my decease Item I give and devise unto
my said Grandchild Martha Pawlett the Bedd Bedstead Curtaines and
Vallence Bolsters and Pillowes with all other things and Furniture
thereunto belonging now standing and being in my owne Lodging Roome
and Also the best paire of my holland sheets Item I give and Bequeath
unto Sarah the wife of the said Mathew Disney the Bedd Bedstead
Curtaines and Vallence Bolsters and pillows with all other Things
and Furniture thereunto belonging now standing and being in
my Chamber called the Redd Chamber and also my husbands Picture
Item I give and bequeath unto the said Martha Pawlett and Sarah
Disney my Silver Cupp and Spoons to be equally devided betweene
them Item I give and devise unto my Grandchild Richard Pawlett
All that my Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell with all houses
outhouses Barnes Malthouses Stables yards orchards Gardens Backsid[e]s
Fences mounds waies easements profitts and commodities whatsoever
unto the same belonging or in any wise apperteyning and also all
those my Three acres of arrable land and Grass ground lyeing in
the Feild of Layton Bussard and the Leck End therof with all and
singuler the appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold
the dwelling house only part of the above devised Premisses unto
the said Richard Pawlett his Executors administrators and assignes
from and after the expiration of the Full time of Six Monethes
next ensueing after my decease for and dureing all the rest and
Residue of my terme therein yet to come and unexpired And also
To have and to hold all the rest and residue of the premisses herein
to him devised unto the said Richard Pawlett his Executors administrators
and assigns from and after the Expiration of one whole yeare next
and imediately ensueing my decease for and dureing all the rest
and residue of my terme therein yet to come and unexpired Privided
alwaies and upon this Condition notwithstanding that he the said
Richard Pawlett his Executors administrators and Assignes shall
within six monethes next and imediately ensueing after my decease
by good and sufficient deed or writing sufficient in the Law well
and sufficiently discharge my Executors herein after named and
every of them of and from the Interest only of and for all such
monies as remaines yet due from and unpaid by me as was devised
to the said Richard Pawlett by the last Will and Testament of my
late husband deceased and in case my said Grandson Richard Pawlett
shall neglect or refuse to Execute and deliver such a sufficient
and legall discharge unto my said Executors of and for the Interest
money remaining due as aforesaid That then and in such case the
Legacie and Interest of and in the Messuage and premisses unto
him by me herein devised shall cease determin and be utterly voyd
and of none effect and that then and after such neglect or Refusall
made I give and devise the same Messuage Lands and premisses above
mentioned with their appurtenances unto my Executors Mathewe Disney
and John Truelove their Executors administrators assignes for and
dureing all my Estate Interest and terme of yeares therein then
to come and unexpired (any thing in these presents contained to
the contrary notwithstanding) Item I give and Bequeath to the said
Richard Pawlett my silver Tankard and all my Beding Pewter Iron
Brasse Five paire of ordinary sheets and one dozen and halfe of
Table Napkins being in my now dwelling house (such goods and furniture
as are herein by me devised only Excepted) Item I give and bequeath
unto William Pawlett Esq[uire] Twenty shillings to buy him a Ring
Item I give to Mr. William Lea above named the sum of Twenty shillings
to buy him a Ring Item I give and Bequeath unto the Two Children
of the said Mathewe Disney the sum of thirty pounds of lawfull
money of England which said Thirty pounds is now upon Securitie
unto me in the hands of Richard Chaddock of Layton Bussard And
my mind and Will is that the said Thirty pounds shall be continued
at Interest for their benefitt and advantage Item I give and Bequeath
unto my Servant maide the sum of Ten shillings Item I give and
bequeath unto my Servant man Charles Hall all my Mault Shovells
and one of my Skreens and my Kilne haire and all my old Sacks and
my mind and Will is that the said Charles Hall and his Assignes
shall or may have hold use and peaceably enjoy the Malt house belonging
to my now dwelling house and the Well Cisterne Kilne and Killne
house with free ingresse egresse and Regresse unto and from the
same for and dureing one whole yeare to commence and be accounted
from the day of my decease without paying any rent or other satisfaction
therefore Item I give and bequeath unto the wife of Thomas Beggerstaffe
the sum of Forty shillings Item I give and bequeath unto the said
Mathewe
Disney and John Truelove the sum of Forty pounds a peece for their
care and paines in the mannageing the Trust hereby in them reposed
and assumeing the execution of this my Will and I doe hereby constitute
and appoynt the said Mathew Disney and John Truelove Executors
of this my last Will and Testament desireing them to see this my
Will justly performed All the rest of my goods Linnen and personall
Estate whatsoever after my Debts and Legacies are paid and discharged
I doe give and bequeath as followeth (that is to say) one Moyety
or halfe part thereof I doe give unto the said Mathewe Disney his
Executors administrators and assignes to his and their absolute
use and dispose and the other Moyety or halfe part I give and devise
unto the said Mathew Disney upon speciall Trust and Confidence
in him reposed That he the said Mathewe Disney shall Pay imploy
and Dispose the monies and goods ariseing and comeing thereby to
and for the sole proper peculier? benefitt and behoofe of the said
Martha Pawlett or into the hands of such Person or Persons as shee
shall from time to time desire and appoynt alone without the said
William Pawlett by any Writing or writings by her signed neverthelesse
in such sort manner and forme and at such time and times as the
said Mathew Disney shall judge most convenient and not otherwise
and my mind and Will is That any acquittance or other discharge
by her alone signed without her husband shall be a good and sufficient
discharge for the same or any part thereof upon any payment or
delivery of goods made as aforesaid and my mind and Will further
is and I doe hereby declare that my Trustees and Executors herein
above named shall not permitt him the said William Pawlett to intermeddle
with any Legacie interest estate or benefitt herein by me bequeathed
unto the said Martha his now wife But my true intent and meaning
is that he the said William Pawlett his Executors and administrators
shall be wholly excluded there from and from all the Benefitt profitt
or proceed of the same And I doe hereby Revoake all former Wills
and Codicills by me any waies made or declared In Wittnesse whereof
I have hereunto putt my hand and seale this Eighteenth Day of May
in the Third yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord James the
Second King over England &c. Annoq[ue] Domini One Thousand

and as her last Will and Testament in the presence of us whose
names are hereunder written and attested in the presence of the

Be it knowne unto all men by these presents that
Whereas I Elizabeth Doggett made my last Will and Testament bearing
date the Eighteenth of May in the Third yeare of his now Ma[jesties]
Raigne &c. That now For as much as I have Changed my mind touching
certaine things in the same last Will contained and severall things
by me intended I did thereby omitt and for and concerning all other
things in my said Will expressed and declared (other then such
as I shall not hereby otherwise dispose of) I doe by this my present
Codicill Confirme and rattifie the said last Will And First my
mind and Will is and I doe hereby desire that my body may be interred
by my late Husband deceased in the Churchyard of Leighton Bussard
in the County of Bedford Item whereas in and by my said Will I
have Devised a Debt of Thirty pounds now due unto me by and from
Richard Chaddock of Leighton aforesaid and whereas I have lately
added unto the said Debt and further lent unto the said Richard
Chaddock the sum of Ten pounds Now therefore I doe hereby give
and bequeath this last mentioned sum of Ten pounds unto Sarah Disney
one of the daughters of Mathew Disney in my said Will named to
be continued at Interest for her advantage And Farther whereas
I have by my said Will given unto Charles Hall my main servant
therein named the use of the Maulthouse belonging unto my now dwelling
house and the Well Cisterne Kilne and Kilne house with free ingresse
egresse and regresse unto and from the same for one whole yeare
to comence from the day of my decease without paying any Rent or
other satisfaction therefore Now t[h]erefore upon mature deliberation
and for divers good causes me here unto moving I doe hereby Revoake
frustrate and make voyd the above recited devise soe by me made
unto the said Charles Hall as aforesaid And my mind and Will is
that he shall not take any advantage thereby And further my mind
and Will is that all manner of Devises or bequests by me made in
and by my said Will unto the said Charles Hall shall be voyde and
of none effect in case the said Charles Hall be not liveing with
me as my Servant at the time of my decease And my mind and Will
is that this Codicill or Schedule be and be adjudged and taken
to be parcell of my last will and to be of Force by right of a
Codicill or otherwise howsoever And I doe hereby earnestly require
my Executors in my said Will named to see all things in this Codicill
contained to be faithfully performed according to my true meaning
as if the same were soe declared and sett downe in and by my said
Will and Testament. In witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my
hand and Seale this Six and Twentieth day of June in the Fourth
yeare of the Raigne of our most Gratious Soveraigne Lord James
