In the name of God Amen, I Anne Sclater of Leighton
Buzard, in the County of Bedford widdowe doe thus make my last
will and testament, First I bequeath my soule into his gracious
hands that gave it mee, hopeing to be saved by the merritts of
his only begotten and dearely beloved sonne my blessed Saviour
Jesus Christ, In the next place, I desire that my bodie may be
interred in the Chancell of Leighton Church, neare to the grave
of my husband of deare memory: As for my worldly goods, I dispose
them in this following manner, (to witt): I bequeath unto my daughter
Elizabeth all my goods which I have in the world, upon this Condition,
that shee discharge, satisfie, and pay, all my debts; And allso
give, as my legacie, to my sonne in lawe W[illia]m Sclater of Barnet
in the Countie of Hartford Clerke, the sume of one pound of lawfull
money of England to buy him a Ringe: In the next place it is my
desire, that James Buck-Master shall enioy that tenement which
hee hath taken of me for the terme of three yeares ending completly
att the feaste of S[ain]t Michael the Arch-Angell, which shall
be in the yeare of our lord God, one thousand sixe hundred and
sixty; Item it is my will and desire, that my daughter Elizabeth
(payeing her two sisters Anne Barker, and Mary Chapman, their iust
portions of wheat my house in Leighton left mee by my husband,
shall by discreete men be valued att) shall enioy that house: And
of this my last will and testament I make Elizabeth Sclater my
daughter sole Executrix: And I desire that Marke Wilkes Gentleman;
and Robert Kinge shoemaker, both of Leighton aforesaid, will take
paines, to be overseers of this my last will And I desire that
for their care and service I expect from them, they may have either
of them five shillings: In witnesse whereof, I have setto my hand
and seale this 27th of August 1658: Anne Sclater, in the p[re]sence
