Transcript

In the name of God Amen; The nyne and twentieth day of November Anno D[o]m[ini] 1644. I William Hawes of Laighton Buzard in the Countie of Bedf[ord] yeoman doe ordeyne and make theis p[rese]ntes my last will and Testament in manner and forme followeing First and above all earthly thinges I comend my feht in soule and bodie to the mercie of allmightie god hopeing and stedfastly beleeving to be saved in and by the only merittes of my mercifull Saviour and only redeemer Jesus Christ, my body to the earth whereof it was formed at the will and appointment of allmightie god to be decently & Christianly buried in the Church or Churchyard of Laighton at the discrec[i]on of my executor when yt shall please god to call me out of this life: Item I give unto my two younger sonnes John and Robert twelve pence a peece Item I give unto Mary my daughter three score pounds of lawfull money of England to be payed unto her when she cometh to the age of twentie and one yeares Item I give unto Faith Hawes my daughter Fiftie poundes of lawfull money of England to be payed unto her when shee cometh to the age of eighteene yeares, yf any of my said two daughters dye before any of their porc[i]ons be due as aforesaid Then my will is the porc[i]on of her soe deceased shalbe payed unto the other sister surviveing and my two Sonnes John and Robert or to soe many of them as shalbe then liveing equally betweene them. Item I give unto William Hawes my sonne, all my freehould landes with their appurten[a]nces. And I doe ordaine and make the said William Hawes my sonne sole executor of this my last will and Testament, To see my iust and true debtes payed my legacies performed and funerall discharged And yf my sonne William shall refuse to be Executor to this my Will Then my will is and I give and bequeath my freehould landes and all my goods and Chattles unbequeathed unto John Hawes my sonne; And I doe make him sole executor of this my will. In wittnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale the day and yeare first above written and acknowledged the same in the presence of those whose names are hereunto subscribed vizl. William Hawes: William Hogg the marke of John Letten the marke of John Skothorne.
