In the name of God Amen the Seaventh daie of Februarye
in Anno D[omi]ni 1626. I Thomas Deacon of Laighton Bussard in the
Countie of Bed[for]d Glover being sick and weake in bodie but
of perfect memorie blessed be god for it, doe hereby revoake all
former wills, and doe Ordaine and make this my last will in manner
Followinge First and principallie I Comende my soule into the handes
of Allmightie god, And my bodie to Christian buriall hoping and
assuredlie trustinge to be saved both soule and bodie with his
Saintes in Glorye. And touching my worldlie estate which god have
blest me withall I doe dispose as followeth. Item I give unto the
poorer sort of people of this Towne of Leighton Twentie shillinges,
and to be bestowed in Bread, at the time of my Buriall and distributed
at the discrec[i]on of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poore.
Item I give unto my sister Joane Archer Five poundes to be paid
within three monethes next after my decease. Item I give unto my
two sisters Elizabeth Stapp and Alice Wilkes Three shillinges Fower
pence a peece to either of them. Item I give unto William Wilkes
my sisters sonne Three score poundes to be paid unto him when he
shall come to the age of Twentie and Fower yeares. Item I give
unto Henrye Wilkes and Agnis Wilkes two other Children of my sisters
Twentie poundes a peece to either of them, and to be paid unto
them when they shall come to the age of twenty and Fower yeares.
Item I give unto Weltham Dartnoll my goddaughter, Twelve pence
Item I give unto Jane Deacon my sister and \un/to her heires for
ever, all my Freehould Landes Contayning by estimac[i]on Three
half acres lying togeather in the Middle Field upon Lectbrooke
furlonge. All the residue of my goodes Cattell and Chattells moveable
and unmoveable whatsoever I give and bequeath unto Jane Deacon
my loving sister, whome I make my sole executrix, to see my debts
paide, my Legacies performed, and Funerall expences discharged,
and my bodie decentlie to be brought to the Earth And I doe ordaine
and appoint my lovinge Freindes, William Hogg, and John Horwell
to be overseers to this my last will, and to be helpfull to my
executrix, as my trust is in them, and I doe give to either of
them for their paynes taking herein Twelve pence a peece. In wittnes
whereof I have hereunto putt my hand and seale the daie and yeare
first above written in the presence of Edmunde Tomes Richard South
