In the name of God amen the Fifteenth day of January
Anno Dominj one thowsand sixe hundred and nyneteene I George Burye
of Laighton Bussard in the Countie of Bedford gent[leman] beyng
sicke in bodie but whole in mynde and of perfect remembrannce (Laude
and praise be unto Almightie god) Doe make ordayne this my last
will and testament in manner and forme folowing that is to saye.
First I give and bequeathe my Soule to Almightie god my maker and
Redemer trusting to be saved onlie by the merittes of my Lord and
Savior Christe Jesus and my bodie to be buryed in the Earth as
yt shall please my Executor hereafter named. Item I give and bequeathe
unto the poore of Laighton tenne shillinges. Item I give and bequeath
unto Susan my welbeloved wife All my Landes Tenementes and hereditamentes
whatsoever lying and beyng in Hockley al[ia]s Hocklife which I
late purchased of Thomas Hillersdon Esquire Frannces Stanton Esquire
John Hillersdon Nicholas Johnson Nicholas Blofeild and others for
and during the tearme of Twelve yeres next ensewing after my \death
or/ decease. And after the end of the saied Tearme I give the one
moytie or nist? halfe of all those Landes unto Anne Burye and Johane
Burye my Daughters and to theire heires and assignes for ever.
The other moytie of nist? halfte of all the fore saied Landes tenementes
and hereditamentes I give and bequeathe unto Richard Bury my sonne
and to his heires and assignes for ever. Item I give unto the Churche
of Laighton fyve shillinges. Item I give and bequeathe unto Mr.
[Christ]ofer Sclater fyve shillinges. All the residue of my goodes
and Chattells whatsoever not by this my present Testament given
or bequeathed my debtes beyng payed and my Funerall expences discharged
I give and bequeathe unto the foresaied Sussana my welbeloved wife
whome I do make full executrix of this my last will and testament.
In witnesse whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale dated
