Transcript
In the name of God Amen Memorandum That on the thre
and twentith daie of October in the yeare of our Lorde god One
thousand six hundred and fower or thereaboutes George Wingate \whiles
he lyved of Layton/ Buyzard in the Countie of Bedford Esquier beinge
sicke in bodie but of good and p[er]fect remembrannce and being
moved by some of his frendes then p[rese]nte with him to dispose
of his worldly goodes and to appointe some that mighte have a care
to provide for his children after his death or to the like effecte
did ...cupatively? will and dispose as followeth or to the like
effect videlicet the saide George saide he poynting to and naminge
Edwarde Wingate his sonne then also p[rese]nte and none but he
shall be my sole Executor and have the disposing of all my goodes
and chattelles whatsoever towardes the payment of my dettes and
the advanncement of my younger children yet unprovided for, And
the saide George Wingate being afterwardes on or aboute the five
and twentith daie of the month aforesaide moved by some then p[rese]nte
to make his will was then tould that he had already disposed of
all his goodes and that tells to his sonne Edwarde Wingate towardes
the payment of his debts and advanncement of his younger children
yet unprovided for And that he had appointed him to be his Executor,
And being asked whether his minde and meaning was that his same
should be or stande for his wyll or to the like effect, Annsweared
that he was soe minded and soe would be still, or at the least,
the saide George then used some other wordes tendinge to the like
effect in the presence and hearinge of diverse credible witnesses.
